I dont like announcing what products we use here for email. All it does is help spammers find holes etc.. and make their life easier. So my question is, once the software is licensed, will my SMTP Greeting be just my hostname and not contain the eval msg? I was able to get rid of the program name by editing the .ini , but the eval msg is still there. X-Server: LogSat Software SMTP Server - Unlicensed Evaluation Copy |

The banner and the X-Server header in the retail version can be completely customized.

I am running 4.0.1.784 registered, should the XServerHeader be valid?
My welcome banner is showing as stated in the INI file, but I'm seeing this in all email passing through the server: X-eBay-MailTracker: 11051.599.0.0 Am I missing something? |

yapadu,
The welcome banner is displayed to remote server when they connect to the SMTP port on your server. The "ResponseWelcomeBanner" is used to modify the default banner used by SpamFilter. We allow admins to modify that if, to improve security, they wish to "hide" the real product they are using. The "X-Server" header is added to incoming emails after they are received, and is usually not seen by the remote server (unless the email passes all the filters, and is then in turn bounced back, including complete headers, by your destination SMTP server due to a non-existing user, or mailbox full, etc). That "X-Server" header cannot be currently be customized. |
