Hi,
I'm keen to install the new version, but want to do so with little to no disruption to my existing setup. Right now everything is working just fine. The installation files had a text file which said there were two ways to install the new version, Either I use the installer or the other was to copy the contents of the win32 director to the server installation. As a novice, can I ask for more detailed steps on the second option. 1. Do I do this while everything is running or do i have to stop the spam server before I do. 2. Will it overwrite an files that I have created for example whitelist.txt 3. Will it continue to use the files that I have created after I upgrade to version 4 These may sound like stupid questions, but I just want to be very sure before I do anything since Im working with a live server with lots of users. Before making this post I did try and find this information in other posts and sections of the website, but have had no luck. Apologies if this information is already posted somewhere, just a link to that topic would be enough. Thanks. Andrew. |

Andrew I asked this very same question about 8 months ago. You only need to update the .exe's. But, this depends on how old of a version your working with. I know that after a certain version, you just need to update the exe's. They will NOT change your existing configuration but will add in new features automatically into the .ini
When logsat releases a new version. I download the latest zip, and just take the 2 new .exe files and overwrite my existing ones. Of course you will need to close the filter program before doing this.

Andrew,
If you use SpamFilter 3.5 or newer, you can simply proceed as IKILLSPAM1 suggested. Just download the distribution containing the binaries-only, and replace the old SpamFilter.exe and SpamFilterSvc.exe with the new ones from the zip. The new greylisting filter will be disabled by default, as to not cause any disruptions, all other settings will remain unchanged. |
